Nicole Collins
NNicole has been involved with horses since birth and began competing at age seven. At a young age Nicole became very involved with 4-H where she competed at the Georgia State 4-H Horse Show every summer and qualified for Southern Regional’s competition several times. She was also a GA 4-H Horse School Junior Leader and has competed in both 4-H and FFA state horse judging competitions where she has been a State Individual and Team Champion as well as being a successful competitor at the Regional and National level.
During her career showing clients’ horses as well as her own, Nicole has competed in a variety of disciplines but primarily competes in Hunter under Saddle, Equitation, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Showmanship, Trail and Reining classes at both the local as well as AQHA and IBHA sanctioned levels. Throughout high school and college she worked for a long time AQHA breeder, assisting with the breeding program, starting 2- year olds under saddle as well as training, showing and promoting the resident stallion and his offspring. It was during this time that she began teaching lessons both to beginner riders and novice-intermediate competitors of all ages. During college Nicole was also a captain and acting Assistant Coach on Georgia Southern University’s IHSA Equestrian Team.
Nicole is currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia pursuing her Master’s degree in Animal Science. Upon completing her Masters she intends to attend veterinary school and pursue a career as an Equine Practitioner specializing in Reproduction and Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation for equine performance athletes. She is also currently a Teaching Assistant at UGA working with Dr. Duberstein’s Beginning Horsemanship course this fall and will also be a TA for Operant Conditioning and Training in the spring. Nicole has gained a variety of knowledge and experiences in the equine industry and enjoys sharing them to help new and current riders reach their riding goals. She very much enjoys instructing the industry’s next generation of equestrians! |
